I do not want to add in too much of my comment here.... ^^

Dear Ms Irene Chan,

I appreciate you guys taking the initiative on investigating this case. But, sadly to say, as stated in my first complaint letter, the lady who pushed the old lady’s wheelchair and the man who drove the ‘cart’ had received tips from the old buddies. I am very sure about this. The lady who pushed the wheelchair even raised her voice and talks to the man and hand in his tips to him. She wanted to RETURN the money ONLY when she receives another call from the centre to handle another case. You guys can retrieve this from the CCTV I suppose. I assume that what WFS had told you is another person in charge on helping the old folks on board since the lady had left.

Please have another look on it. I do really hope WFS is not in the hand of covering her staff. WFS should have a list on who is the one who pushed the wheelchair and same goes to the one who drove the cart since this is your last sentence in your text: "In addition, all pre-ordered wheelchair passengers at departure gate 47 you mentioned had already been assisted by WFS for boarding around 1900 hrs on 6 Mar 2011."

Dear Ms. Chu,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us on wheelchair services you noticed during your stay at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). Upon receiving your comment, we have immediately followed it up and it is subsequently confirmed that the service is provided by our licensee, Worldwide Flight Services (WFS).

According to your information and the investigation report from WFS we gathered, WFS responded that the passenger had offered tips to the wheelchair staff but was politely refused by the staff involved. As stipulated in the Licence Agreement with WFS, solicitation of tips for the services provided to passengers is strictly prohibited. To ensure such service performance standard is well maintained during the service delivery, WFS have been requested to step up their trainings/ briefings on customer services as well as the ethical awareness on solicitation of tips and the Authority shall continue conducting audit checks regularly.

In addition, all pre-ordered wheelchair passengers at departure gate 47 you mentioned had already been assisted by WFS for boarding around 1900 hrs on 6 Mar 2011.

Once again, we thank you again for bringing the matter to our attention.

Ethics - To tips o not to?

It has been a long time I din update this blog....

I din think up putting this issue up here BUT the reply from Hong Kong International Airport's personnel had changed my mind....

Here is what I sent to the Hong Kong International Airport board and to the Hong Kong tourism board...

The issue below was happening around 1815 at 6th March 2011 near gate 47 at Hong Kong International Airport Terminal 1.

I came across this incident when I was in the queue to get free internet access…. There were one old lady on wheel chair and few (I think there is a total of four of them) old buddies who is not strong physically and need assistant who need to depart at gate 47 which is so far far far far far away from the main gate. When I saw them, they were assisted by the airport crew. One lady helped push the old lady who is on wheel chair and the others were on the cart, heading to gate 47.

Well…. After dropping off them on ground, the old buddies offer some tips to the crew. The crews accepted it and treat it as "coffee money"… After that, the crew who should help them on board accept a call from the counter and need to rush back and she wants to give back the tips she had receive to the old buddies. What is this la…. Of course the old buddies say no to her and say never mind la…. She apologized and went off and says there will be another crew to come over to handle them…. @@

I was not sure whether there is another crew member coming over to take over her place or not. What my concern were…..

(1) Is there anyone coming over to assist them?
(2) If there is someone coming over to assist them, should they pay him/her tips?
(3) Are the old buddies suppose to give tips to the crew?
(4) Should the crew members accept the tips?
(5) If the crew is accepting the tips, what is the main purpose of setting up this service?
(6) If the crew is accepting the tips, do they still get their monthly pay?
(7) If the crew is accepting the tips, should they get their monthly pay?

I just cannot get the whole idea of this. When I first saw them helping the old buddies, I was amazed and was touched with such a high quality service provided by the HK airport. p/s: I had send another copy to the tourism board.

It is really a term that is hard to be explained….

Well, I think almost everyone knows what does it means…

And…

Everyone needs it….

We need it….!!

But, are we really protecting our privacy??

OR

We are disposing it?

Erm… need some time to digest and think ya…. Haha….

When there are actual border in life when we are living in a village, we will be thinking that we do not have any privacy as your neighbour or I probably should say is the whole village will know that you actually pee on your pants… haha...

You felt embarrassed and wanna kill the one who actually tell the facts to the third party and news spread like lighting….

When time comes to the digital world, we are all closed up in our room and we are protecting our privacy as we assumed…

But, we are uploading photos, thoughts (like what I am doing right now), diaries etc online…

The one around us, for instance our neighbour know nothing about us…

But, the one in the cyber world, mostly stranger know us better than them…

The one in the cyber world actually know us well and much better than the one in the real life….

So, are we protecting our privacy or exposing it in another way??

Do you feel better to tell others about yourself thru net and not in the real life???

Think about it… hehe....

A Letter from a Shelter Manager: I think our society needs a huge " Wake-up" call.As a shelter manager, I am going to share a little insight with you all. ..a view from the inside if you will.
First off, all of you breeders/sellers should be madeto work in the "back" of an animal shelter for justone day.

Maybe if you saw the life drain from a few sad, lost,confused eyes, you would change your mind about breeding and selling to people you don't even know. That puppy youjust sold will most likely end up in my shelter whenit's not a cute little puppy anymore.

So how would you feel if you knew that there's about a> 90% chance that dog will never walk out of the shelter it is going to be dumped at? Purebred or not! About 50% of all of the dogs that are "owner surrenders" or "strays" that come into my shelter are purebred dogs.

The most common excuses I hear are;

"We are moving and we can't take our dog (or cat)." Really? Where are you moving to that doesn't allow pets and why did you choose that place instead of a pet friendly home?
Or they say "The dog got bigger than we thought it would". How big did you think a German Shepherd would get?

"We don't have time for her". Really? I work a 10- 12 hour day and still have time for my 6 dogs!

"She' s tearing up our yard". How about making her a part of your family?

They always tell me: "We just don't want to have to stress about finding a place for her we know she'll get adopted, she's a good dog."

Odds are your pet won't get adopted & how stressfuldo you think being in a shelter is? Well, let me tell you,your pet has 72 hours to find a new family from the momentyou drop it off. Sometimes a little longer if the shelterisn't full and your dog manages to stay completelyhealthy. If it sniffles, it dies.

Your pet will be confined to a small run/kennel in a roomwith about 25 other barking or crying animals. It will haveto relieve itself where it eats and sleeps.

It will be depressed and it will cry constantly for thefamily that abandoned it.

If your pet is lucky, I will have enough volunteers in thatday to take him/her for a walk. If I don't, your petwon't get any attention besides having a bowl of foodslid under the kennel door and the waste sprayed out of itspen with a high-powered hose.

If your dog is big, black or any of the "Bully"breeds (pit bull, rottie, mastiff, etc) it was pretty muchdead when you walked it through the front door. Those dogsjust don't get adopted.

It doesn't matter how 'sweet' or 'well behaved' they are. If your dog doesn't get adopted within its 72 hours and the shelter is full, it will be destroyed.

If the shelter isn't full and your dog is good enough,and of a desirable enough breed it may get a stay ofexecution, but not for long.

Most dogs get very kennel protective after about a week and are destroyed for showing aggression. Even the sweetest dogs will turn in this environment.

If your pet makes it over all of those hurdles chances areit will get kennel cough or an upper respiratory infectionand will be destroyed because shelters just don't havethe funds to pay for even a $100 treatment. Here's a little euthanasia 101 for those of you thathave never witnessed a perfectly healthy, scared animalbeing "put-down"....

First, your pet will be taken from its kennel on a leash.They always look like they think they are going for a walk -happy, wagging their tails.

Until, they get to "The Room", every one of themfreak out and put the brakes on when we get to the door. Itmust smell like death or they can feel the sad souls thatare left in there, it's strange, but it happens withevery one of them.

Your dog or cat will be restrained, held down by 1 or 2 vettechs depending on the size and how freaked out they are.

Then a euthanasia tech or a vet will start the process.They will find a vein in the front leg and inject a lethaldose of the "pink stuff".

Hopefully your pet doesn't panic from being restrainedand jerk. I've seen the needles tear out of a leg andbeen covered with the resulting blood and been deafened bythe yelps and screams.

They all don't just "go to sleep", sometimesthey spasm for a while, gasp for air and defecate onthemselves.

When it all ends, your pet's corpse will be stackedlike firewood in a large freezer in the back with all of theother animals that were killed waiting to be picked up likegarbage.

What happens next? Cremated? Taken to the dump? Renderedinto pet food? You'll never know and it probablywon't even cross your mind. It was just an animal andyou can always buy another one, right?

I hope that those of you that have read this are bawlingyour eyes out and can't get the pictures out of yourhead I deal with everyday on the way home from work.

I hate my job, I hate that it exists & I hate that itwill always be there unless you people make some changes andrealize that the lives you are affecting go much furtherthan the pets you dump at a shelter.

Between 9 and 11 MILLION animals die every year in sheltersand only you can stop it. I do my best to save every life Ican but rescues are always full, and there are more animalscoming in everyday than there are homes.

My point to all of this: DON'T BREED OR BUY WHILESHELTER PETS DIE!

Hate me if you want to. The truth hurts and reality is whatit is.

I just hope I maybe changed one person's mind aboutbreeding their dog, taking their loving pet to a shelter, orbuying a dog.

I hope that someone will walk into my shelter and say"I saw this and it made me want to adopt." THATWOULD MAKE IT WORTH IT!

Polygamy

Polygamy can be exist when a male married more than one female as his wife or a female married more than one male as her husband or a mixture of both conditions….

Do you agree with polygamy?

I think most of us do not want to see this happening but, can we control all these?

As what most of them saying, love is uncontrollable…

We cannot control our feelings and we do not want to throw our first spouse away…

Anyways, in the context of polygamy, there are more male marrying more than one female compared to female marrying more than one husband….

Why is this situation appeared?

Is it because there are more female in the society in nature?

OR

Is it because the men want to show their masculinity?

OR

Is it the men want to show how much their savings are that they can actually sustain 2, 3, 4 or 5 families?

Why are all these happening?

Can we stop all these?

You might want to tell me that we can actually stop it but, polygamy has an ancient history and it is not that if I would like to have one to one policy then it can be worked…

However, polygamy is sometimes an excuse for those who want to have more than one partner…

Either to a female or male…

It is a kind of selfish acts when s/he wants to have another partner and do not want to dump the previous one….

There are lots of human kinds in the earth.. I should better name it as the world….

As long as you are willing to stay on the polygamy society and environment, you are willing to be the first or the second or the third mistress or mister…

I don’t think anyone of us have to right to stop you as this is what you wish and we can only stay aside and watch what will happen on next….

At the end here…

Good luck to those who are living in the polygamy environment and to those who wants to step into this conflict, do think twice and I think there is always someone who will support you somewhere….

There will be no such thing as third sex but there is something that we can name it as third gender....

India’s government had put a third column in their citizens' identity card and the column is labelled as E which stands for Eunuch which is the term used for cross dresses....

I was quite amazed and shocked when I read this through an article in today's The Sun paper....

Cross dresses had been a long history and it had occurred long time ago during the Mesopotamia time when Hatshepsut wore a fake beard....

Time has changed and came to a different world when everyone can actually take transvestite easily....

They no longer look at them with a weird look...

They can now view them as someone normal...

We are taking all taking for granted as time comes...

When we are used to it, we no longer think that much and just accept it...

I wonder when Malaysia can be so open minded and have a third column in our identification card....

Will that be happen one day??

There is war everywhere in the world now…

When can all the war stop??

When can we actually have a peaceful life in every single corner??

Well, I do not have the power and I am lack of knowledge on talking about war here compared to many of them outside of my world….

Why am I talking about war since I am not capable to do so?

Well, I would like to point out something on.....

...War between women…

The women’s fight…. Lol….

Back to traditional lifestyle where patriarchy is very strong in the society…

They can have more than one wives and if you have only one wife, the man will stare at you in a weird way while the woman will be jealous of your wife…

Either you are willing or not, you have to obey your parents’ order if they want you to have concubine… maybe not concubine but concubinessssssssss…

In the olden days, if the first wife could not born a baby boy, and after several pregnancies and all of them are baby girl, the parents will urge their son to have a second wife..

I think I need not explain much on these as almost everyone of us knows the meaning hidden…

They do not know that women are not the only one who could and should be blamed as the science and technology in the olden days are not that developed yet…

Well, back to the topic… war…

When there are more than one woman holding and sitting in a family, there will be internal affairs like what the company nowadays have…

They will have to fight with each and other to grab the husband’s 'heart'…

The one who have a baby boy born will have a bigger power…

The one who knows the best way to lure the man will be sitting in a higher position…

The one who can actually acts the best will be having a bigger authority….

All these had come to one conclusion….

The fighting among women….

The women themselves fight among themselves to win the higher status in the family…
If they are married to a richer family, they will be aiming for the heritage that her husband has….

If she is from a wealthy family and she is helping her husband’s family in any ways, she will have the major power and sometimes her parents-in-law need to listen to her too…

Well, if her husband is getting the second wife, she has no choice but to accept it if she cannot be able to born a baby boy….

Marrying another wife for her husband does not mean that she is accepting the facts that had been built under the patriarchy society…

The second wife normally will be exploited by the first wife….

When we are talking about gender inequality, we were talking about how man dominates, exploits women….

Why not we as women stand together and stop all the war among women…

If women are uniting, women saying no to the man who ask them to be the second wife or to be his mistress who is not under protected of the law, how can the man have so many concubines…

We used to say women are not treated equally under those circumstances…

I could not deny that there is a lot of gender inequality cases found in the society…

But, man is not the one to be blamed sometimes…

Maybe woman fighting for their position in the family is not a wrong thing… But, woman actually can stop all these war....

Well, look at this...

The most important thing for a woman is her family….

Woman who has traditional thinking will put her family in the first place….

They want their power to be on hand and they want themselves to be seen….

They do not want their husband to ‘divide’ his heart to a bigger portion to another woman….

It is the same theory if we turn it into another way….

A man in his post will be more likely to wish his boss to see him more, appreciate his work more..

He would prefer he himself to be at a higher position and have a better and usable power..

He does not want to be under someone else forever….

It is under the same principle but we are looking at the different way….

Things are fixed and rounded…

We can actually apply everything here and there….

The government wants all the races to unite to defeat the enemy of the country….

Woman can actually unite and stand together to fight back the man if they want too…

I know everyone of us know that women are strong and capable to do so….

They can actually act better than men if they want to..

Do you want to see all these happen?

Or remaining in the same situation, naming the woman staying at home should be better??

Or we can either have a discussion among the man and woman in the family to decide all these….

All these can be discussed and be ended up with a nice and perfect conclusion without war….

So, why war??

Isn’t that starting a war is actually something foolish??

So, stop war…. Create peace…..

There are strict rule saying that women should be sexually inactive (once upon a time)..

What do you think about this?

Women who are sexually active are classified as ‘slags’ whereas those who are not had been classified as ‘drags’… (nowadays)

How can you explain this statement??

Do you mind if your spouse is not virgin when you marry her?

Traditional woman should know how to cook and sew…

However, good chef and good tailor in the commercial line are always male….

Why is it so??

Strategy of marketing…

When I was working on my toilet blog, some of my coursemates will be working on ‘alcohol advertising encroaching the youth market’ …

However, they could not really manage to reach the criteria..

I think this is not their fault as we are in Penang…

Why do I say so?

The reason is, I went into both cinemas in Penang and KL..

I found that in Penang’s cinema, they do not have much alcohol advertising compared to KL..

And some of the film does not even have one alcohol advertising whereas KL’s film has two to three…

I went to Pavilion and watch a movie yesterday…. Only one film but there are three alcohol advertising… They are Anglia Shandy, VSOP and one more that I am not so sure..

Why is it so?

The facts that we could not deny is that when companies are advertising, they do look back for profit…

Back to the cinema in Penang, I can actually get a very very nice seat if I am purchasing my ticket 10 minutes before the show start….

If I am purchasing my movie ticket in KL, I think I might have to choose a movie which is not that popular… If not, I can only get the front seat ticket…

Can you see the situation?

There are less people buying movie ticket in Penang compared in KL….

The alcohol companies do not want to lose their money to advertise in Penang that does not bring up their company’s yearly revenue…

They are smart business organization and they do have their strategy on marketing….!!

I went to buy my bus ticket that day with my friend and it cost me RM1.00 from my uni to the terminal…

When I have my ticket on hand, I took another bus to a shopping mall..

When I hopped into this bus and get the last seat, I saw this…

What had happen to this society?

They want to advertise their name and telephone on the seat in this way?

They have nothing to do and want to spoil the cushion seat in this way??

I had blog on this weblog for about few months and I used up plenty of my time during this semester to work out on this weblog..

It finally came to an end….

However, I do not plan to delete it and will try to maintain it but I will not update that frequent as I do have numerous things to be done…

Mr Lee is the head of the Cyber World...

After communicating with him, he told me that it’s unfair if he is advertising my blog and not the whole course-mates' blog…

Korean Restaurant @ Sabah

Do you guys taken Korean food before??

There’s some restaurants in Sabah which are selling Korean food..

I went to one of them and tried…

The most important thing is.. it doesn’t really taste good…

So, I need not tell you where is it located…. ;p

Anyways, it’s near Karamunsing (if I am not mistaken).. take a turn before the police station….

Just for a reminder… my taste is different than yours….

It’s an individual building which means it’s kind of bungalow type…

It’s a restaurant and they are earning a profit…

Ok… the toilet is can be rated…. Erm…. A 4 star??

It’s not that clean or that dirty either but cleanliness can be improved…

Le Meridien Hotel in Kota Kinabalu....

For those who dunno where Kota Kinabalu is located, let me be a geography teacher and tell you where it is located. Hehe…

Kota Kinabalu is located at Sabah, East Malaysia.

Le Meridien Hotel is opposite the Philippine Market (For those who is familiar with Kota Kinabalu, you should know.)

Well, I can give the toilet in Le Meridien a 4.5/5*…

Why is 0.5* gone….?

It’s because the OKU (Orang Kelainan Upaya or better known as People with disability) is out of service..

Let’s have a look at the toilet and judge yourself….

You can judge better than I do, right? ;p

Anyways, I think they have the best OKU toilet.. (unitl now, from what I had observed)

Woman Loses $70K Wedding Ring Down Toilet

How much would you pay to get your wedding ring back?

For one woman in Phoenix, AZ, the sum total came to $7,200 after she accidentally dropped her seven carat wedding ring down a restaurant toilet.

Allison Berry was so frantic to get her ring back city employees were called in to flush the ring out of the pipe.

When that didn’t work, the city was forced to call Mr. Rooter, a professional plumbing company based in Waco, Texas.

The plumber fed an infrared video camera into the toilet until he spotted the ring. He then spent an hour and a half removing the pipe and cutting away from the area with a jack hammer.

The ring was eventually returned to Berry, but at a steep cost: The plumber charged $5,200, the city charged $1,000, and Berry and her husband felt obligated to tip the plumber and the city worker $400 each and a restaurant employee $200 for volunteering to stay late to assist them with the recovery.

“They always say diamonds are a girl's best friend. In this case, a plumber is a girl's best friend," says the heroic plumber, Mike Roberts. "

She was just so excited, she had tears in her eyes. She gave us a hug and said 'Thank you so much.'"

I had sent out an email to the Tourism Penang and also to the Malaysia Airport Holding and both parties are not replying me…

Our advisory, Dr Reevany would like us to do 3 tasks together for this project.

Since they are not replying me, my course-mates and I decided to send in mail again to the Tourism Penang.

However, I managed to found the MPPP’s director and secretary 's email address and I am also sending it to China Press and The Star.

Below is the mail I send over and we planed to have everyone to send one over and since they are replying, I think non of my course-mates did send over the mail.

To everyone who receive this email,

I am Sophia Chu here and I am a student from USM (Universiti Sains Malaysia), majoring in anthropology and sociology and I am currently taking SAU216/E (Globalization, Cyber Culture and Future Studies) which is a subject under School of Social Sciences and the lecturer of this subject is Dr Reevany Bustami which is also the Deputy Dean of the school.

I am working on an assignment on a topic of public toilets in commercial buildings and posting all on a blog and this can link you to the blog.

The main purpose of creating that blog and writing this email is to help to create the society awareness on how to use a public toilet in a correct way and how the management of the commercial buildings can actually do something to keep the toilet clean and have a toilet which is friendly to everyone and not only to those who are capable.

I had sent a letter to Malaysia Airport Holding Bhd and also to the tourism of Penang and they seems like not to bother me and they are not even replying me!!!

My photos that attached are all on toilets at Bayan Lepas International Airport and it is an international airport and though the facilities and cleanliness of the toilet is not even 3 star. Do remind all of you that there will be so many tourists coming in through this airport and if the toilet is not clean, will you, as a Malaysians ashamed of it??? Don’t you feel shameful if you have a friend from another country telling you how dirty is the toilet in Bayan Lepas International Airport???

They do have toilets for the OKU (Orang Kelainan Upaya) or better known as people with disabilities. But, this does not fit the criteria for an OKU user. The hook is so high and there’s only one aluminium bar. Didn’t they stand at the one who is sitting on a wheelchair's situation and think of that matter? The OKU’s toilet is not just for the old folks but also for the one who is sitting on the wheelchair, those who have injured on leg and for those who really need it!!

Besides that, the tissue is everywhere, on the toilet bowl (not flushing it down), on the dustbin (NOT IN BUT ON) and water stain is everywhere. I am afraid that someone might slipped because the colour of the tar will not aware us on that. O ya.. The rag had become one of the displays in the toilet. How creative the management is!!

Tissues that provide us to clean our hand is not proper too. They seem like putting on the toilet roll. Has the economy crisis affect Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd and they have not enough money to even change the dustbin in the toilet (they are using a cardboard to hold the dustbin) and provide a proper type of toilet roll and to have a proper place to place the toilet paper and not just put it on there???

When I was using the toilet, I was holding my camera phone and snapping the entire toilet. The cleaning lady was shock to see me doing so especially when I opened one of the cabins which is full of tissues on the toilet bowl and on the dustbin.

She feels like threatening me and this is what she said and she assume I understand BM. (I do understand BM but I didn’t reply her.)

‘Tandas itu masalah sikit. Memang macam tu.’

Bermasalah sikit and you can just ignore it????

An OKU toilet which is out of order.

A space beside the dustbin is now a store room.

Aluminium bar is not enough if there's only ONE and no place for the toilet rools or that space is meant for toilet roll.

Footprint in the OKU toilet.

Hook must have 2 if you are putting it so high OKU people cannot reach it.

Malaysia Airport Holding has no more money to get the suitable type of roll to fit in it and YOU have to use a cardboard to hold the dustbin.

Shouldn't a place for the user to keep their belongings is necessary as this is an airport.

The rag is another display in the toilet.

Tissues are everywhere and the cleaning lady is inside the toilet and she is not doing anything until she saw I snap it down.

Tissues on dustbin and I think that's the mark after washing (on the floor).

Water stain. Someone might slip over if they are not aware of it as the tar colour will not alert us on this.

For your info, MAB has been invited as one of the committee members is the cleanliness campaign I am chairing.
The airport toilets condition & maintenance is a permanent item we discussed. Latest feedback from MAB in the last
meeting on 23.2.2009 was that they have completed the toilet upgrading works and a new cleaning contractor was appointed.
Representatives from MATTA & MAHA also confirmed they have received favourable response from the tourists that the
condition of the airport toilets has improved. I will pass the latest feedback from your goodself and also Sophia to MAB.

On the other note, based on instruction from YB Chow, we have tentatively blocked 14.3.2009 for YAB CM to launch the
cleanliness program at Batu Ferringhi. I will be preparing an official invitation letter for you to sign to be forwarded CM. TQ.

The toilet condition is bad but it is not very dirty….

Well, I had showed you the 50cents toilet, then the RM1.00 toilet.... Now is the 30 cents toilet... :)

You will be surprise on the cleanliness as it is really dirty.....

I should pay to go in but I didnt because I think I shouldnt pay since I am just going in to take photos and not using it....

The toilet workers saw me taking photos there and they contacted their supervisor....

Before I left the toilet, the supervisor 'caught' me....

This is how it goes....

While I were to go, I heard someone shouting 'Miss Miss Miss!!'

Then I turned over.. I saw the supervisor (a male) chasing after me.... Below are our conversation...

C : Yes?
S : My staff told me that you were taking photos in the toilet. What can I help you??
C : I am working on a project and I need to take down toilets from everywhere.
S : O.. icic... I thought you are the customer and you are taking down photos because you want to complain about our toilet... (I was wearing a cap and the cap indicates me as the worker there and as what I knew, the toilet in 1 Borneo is not managed by the management of 1Borneo but they are from a cleaning company and 1 Borneo pay them to manage it.)
C : The toilet is really dirty. I think you should work out on it.
(The supervisor's face turned red. But, he did not call me to delete the photos and he does not have the right to do so. Am I right?)

VIP toilet???!!

Well, if you have a chance to pay a visit to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, East Malaysia, you will definitely be visiting One Borneo as it is a new hypermall in KK and it is the largest hypermall until now in East Malaysia.

Do REMEMBER to visit their VIP toilet.

You have to pay RM1.00 to go in. But, if you have a friend there, I think they can manage to get you a platinum card (it's a member card) and with that card, you need not pay anything...

It's kind of priviledge for those who are holding this card.

Do you think I am paying RM1.00 to go in and snap down photos??

I will not waste my money in that way but if I am in an emergency, I have no choice but to pay... :)

Since I have a choice, I wouldnt rather choose not to pay...

I got the Platinum card and I went into the VIP toilet whenever I want to....

For the first time when I went into the toilet, I was clean and I was awesome with the toilet.

There's one basin in every of the toilet slot and they provide free tissues, detergent to wipe the toilet bowl before you sit on it, and also a hand dryer...

Those things are all inside the toilet cabin and not the one that everyone is sharing it outside.

There are also dried flowers with fragrant and a large TV (I think it's 32") for you to watch while you are waiting for your turn..

You have to wait quite long as everyone is enjoying their time in the toilet....

The toilet was very clean and I can even give it a 5* when I first use it....

However, I can only give it a 3.5* when I am using it for the second, third and forth time....

The floor has became dirty, the dustbin is full of tissue cause the toilet workers didnt clean it up as there are more and more people using it....

Majority of them who use the toilet are not paying the one Ringgit but using the platinum card...

Anyways, some of them do pay and they cannot managed to wait as the queue is too long and they came out and ask back for the money but the worker do not want to pay them back and they have to go in and queue again.. Pity them...

Well, this post will bring you to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, East Malaysia.

There are so many hypermarkets which we can categorize it as the commercial buildings in Sabah and I am bringing you guys to One Borneo (The largest Hypermarket in Sabah) and Warisan Square.

You will get shock to know how much they charge for using their toilet are!!!

RM1.00 without the so called member card and if you do have it, it's FOC.... Anyways, I saw people pay to go in.... Are they tooo rich???? I saw some of them walking out of the toilet after paying it and do not want to wait for the queue (too many using it with member card)... No refund..... Their RM1.00 flew away.... haha... Pity them.... (:

50 Cents with a free pocket tissue????
Someone told me that they are not giving you even a pocket tissue previously and you have to pay the same price to go in...

The man, a taxi-driver, vanished three weeks ago. Police in the western city of Dusseldorf believe the wife, 52, chopped him up and disposed of 100 kilograms of body parts in garbage bins and down the toilet.

The Muslim couple hated one another. After her adult children asked where he was, she replied: "You'll never find him. I've put him down the loo." Neighbours said the toilet had been flushed constantly on the night he disappeared.

The woman left Germany and was last seen in her native Macedonia, according to the police. German police will issue an international warrant for her arrest but are aware that Macedonia does not extradite its own citizens.

Police scientists said the couple's apartment had been energetically cleaned and repainted, but using disclosing solutions they found bloodstains in the living room, hall and bathroom. Experts are to search the sewer next.

Police voiced amazement that the husband, 58, had never reported her previous attempts to poison him or the time she seriously injured him with a hammer.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia --Malaysia will try to flush its long-held image of having foul-smelling public restrooms with a National Toilet Summit to educate the public about the importance of clean commodes.

Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Robert Lau -- whose ministry will hold the conference in Kuala Lumpur Aug. 24-25 -- said Tuesday "having clean restrooms in this country is a serious challenge that we have to tackle."

"If a toilet is a person (in Malaysia), he should protest to the Human Rights Commission because he is very unfairly treated," Lau said.

Public toilets in Malaysia have long disgusted residents and tourists with their lack of basic items such as toilet paper, soap and sometimes even toilet seats. Many fall prey to vandals.
Lau said the meeting would bring together local officials and international experts on toilet management, including the founder of the World Toilet Organization, Jack Sim.
Such eyesores scare away tourists, Lau said.

"The vision ... is to establish a clean toilet culture," he said. "The mission is to raise users' etiquette and to motivate the change in the psychological ethics and attitudes of users and owners."

Shopping malls and other commercial establishments that do not have clean toilets may not have their business licenses renewed, he said, adding the government was also considering imposing fines for vendors with dirty washrooms.

Are they success??

Dear Malaysians and to the tourist who came to Malaysia, please judge yourself.

I think there are some changes preparing the basic needs for usage in the toilet.

But, is their mission accomplished?

Well, can their business licensed successfully renewed although the toilets in the shopping mall is dirty?

Has the public change their etiquette on using public toilet??

Deleted photos can come back and haunt you, says Chong

KUALA LUMPUR: Beware! With computer softwares that are able to recover deleted data from handphones and personal computers, pictures or videos that are assumed long gone can still come back to haunt you.

Since 2007, there have been more than 13 cases of women who have had their private pictures publicly flaunted on the Internet or via the Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS).

“Most of these cases involved women whose former partners exposed the private photos out of spite,” said MCA Public Services and Complaints Department Head Datuk Michael Chong at a press conference yesterday.

He added that most people were unaware that simply deleting the photos from handphones were insufficient as there were ways to extract the deleted data.

Selangor and Federal Territory Telecommunication Association acting committee member Ivan Er said free, easy-to-use data restoration programmes were easily available on the Internet.

“With just a mere click of the mouse, all deleted data can be restored,” said Er, adding that users should reformat and demagnitise their storage mediums after data deletion as a precaution.

Er also warned that servers of communication service providers could keep records of video calls as there was no stopping rogue employees.

“The privacy policies of these telco companies disallow it, of course,” he said.
The association aims to educate users on the latest frauds and hazards of the telecommunication industry.

Knowing this information can help us to be more aware and if anyone came across to let others’ took their photo when they are urinating or changing their garments in the changing room, do take their devices and clashed it..

Deleting the photo itself is not enough as they can trace back using certain software.

It sounds evil but this is the best way to protect us and avoiding seeing your own nude photo on the net..

I know this is not a good idea…

OKU's toilet in Penang International Airport - Part 3 (Last Post)

This is the OKU’s toilet that I found in the airport….

It’s after the immigration part, in the departing hall….

The toilet is clean and I can give it a rate of 3.5/5 star…

Why only 3.5/5 star??
- Light is tooo dim..
- Can the OKUs see themselves in the mirror??
- Can the OKUs use the hand dryer??
- Can the OKUs on the switch???
- The aluminium bar to help the OKU is not enough…
- Can the OKUs manage to turn their back over to get the toilet papers??

See this sign and you will find the toilet...

It's at the center of the male and female's toilet...

Can they managed to dry their hand with this????

OKU's toilet in Penang International Airport - Part 2

This is the second OKUs’ toilet I found in the airport….

As mentioned in the previous post, you need to reach to the end (the other side) of the airport to look for this toilet…

I wonder why the toilet is not clean as I do not see many OKUs around the airport….

Maybe I didn’t notice much of my surroundings or the non-OKUs are using it???

Please bear in mind that the OKUs’ toilet is mainly for the OKUs and if you think you are not OKU, please space them up…..!!

You can hardly notice this if you are in the hurry....

It's not situated along the normal toilet as it is near the 'main entrance' of the toilet...

Whenever there’s a toilet, you will find one OKU’s toilet in Penang International Airport regardless it can be use or not…

This is the first OKU’s toilet I saw in the airport and it is out of order…

If you are OKU and you need a toilet urgently, sorry….

Please do get the one around you to help you to the other end of the toilet…..

If you have close friends and relatives around, just get them to help you to the normal toilet… I think this way will be faster as it is really far to go to the other end of the airport (although the airport is not big)…. ;p

Pervert escaped with RM100???!!!

I came across this article when I was browsing the net….

It’s an article about a pervert who escaped with only RM100.00 for taking a photo of a girl urinating in a shopping mall in Johor Baru, a place which is located at the south of Malaysia.

How can this be?? This is the highest penalty!!!

Shouldn’t the government look into this matter seriously as RM100 is away too low….

The pervert will think that it’s worth paying as they can spy and take photo when someone is urinating….

It will cost him nothing if he is lucky enough….

Female's toilet in Penang International Airport (Part 2)

This is another toilet in Penang International Airport and it is near Coffee Bean, before entering into the departing area.

Well…. This toilet is very very dirty and it does smells ‘good’… lol…

The toilet paper is everywhere in the toilet…

As usual, when I was holding my camera snapping up and down in the toilet, the toilet lady will stare at me in a weird way….

Well….. When I pushed open a cabin, I saw the toilet paper was everywhere and I just get hold of my cam and snapped it down…. The toilet lady was quite frightened and she was mumbling behind me after I snap down the photo….

She said, tandas itu memang bermasalah sikit…

Well, I pretend that I do not understand what is she trying to convey to me and just take my queue again and do my business and went off….

She did do the cleaning after I shot down and water is everywhere on the floor….

I can only grade the toilet’s cleanliness for 2/5 star….

Are they focusing on the development of Penang and forgot how important is a toilet to bring up the state’s reputation??

I wonder….

It’s quite OKU friendly but I found one is even OKU friendly than this…….

There’s no mirror in it…..

Shouldn’t they place one in it??

I think the OKU who is sitting on the wheelchair cannot really make use of the handle lo......

I can actually rate this toilet with a 4/5 star on cleanliness….

But, the interior design of the toilet can only be rated as 3/5 star…..
(For my rating.. Maybe you can give it a higher rate if you want..)

There’s no plant in the toilet….

The management should consider on this….. (Can help to keep the toilet fresh….)

Anyways, I am giving them a credit on putting the yellow and black strips on the floor for the squatting one to make people alert on the step to prevent them from falling…. GREAT JOB!!!

This post will be on the women’s toilet at Gurney Plaza, Penang (New Wing).

The toilet is basically clean + dirty….

Haha… What statement am I making….

It’s clean somewhere and it’s dirty somewhere….

How should I rate it….

I think I will be giving it 2.5/5 star in general…

Points are given on the kid’s basin and the kid’s urinary bowl and also the ‘hardworking’ female worker who is trying her best to keep the toilet clean when she saw someone is holding a camera snapping up and down… haha…

Well.. Points are deducting because there’s rubbish on top of the rubbish bin and not inside the bin… And there’s a great actor in the toilet…

There’s a baby care room in Gurney Plaza, the new wing….

It’s actually not clean (could say quite dirty)…

When I open the door, I saw all the tissues on the table and the workers there were so frighten that she quickly came in and clear off the tissue paper before I managed to snap down the photos…

Her action was very very fast… like lighting… (She saw that I was holding my camera phone.. I was snatching the logo of the toilet just now and she knew what’s my intension on… )

p/s : means if I am not holding any sorts of electronic gadgets to snatch down photo, they will rather not care about the cleanliness of the baby care room????

Hygiene is very important as the mom the feeding their baby there…

Please look into this matter… please….

Plaza Gama’s toilet part 2…..

Well, the previous post was at the third floor, which is tremendously dirty and now I will be bringing you to the first floor…..

Why not the first floor first only to the third floor??

First floor was ‘cleaning in progress’ and I have to go to the third floor first….

First floor is OKU more friendly and there’s a place specially for them…

However, the OKU’s toilet does not smell good!!! (I open the door right after they had finished the cleaning….)

What is this on earth??

If anyone who knows someone who is from the Plaza Gama’s management department, please raise this to them as this should not be happening….

Let me bring you to Plaza Gama’s toilet.... ;)

Plaza Gama is in Penang, Malaysia…

I am like doing inspection on toilet.....

Plaza Gama has a lot of crowd and people are going in and out to the toilet and they are looking at me as if I am a voyeur (with a cam)….

I don’t feel nice and I snap down the photo as fast as I could as they are looking at me in a strange way…

I am lucky to be a female as if I am a male, I think the women will be shouting and they can actually alert the security….. ;)

Well... Gama's OKU's toilet is situated at the first floor and there’s toilet in first, third and fourth floor..

If you are an OKU and you are in an emergency, sorry then….

Please take a lift to the first floor…..

Generally, the toilet is not that clean as it should be and it is also not well maintained…

The conditions are bad and the tiles on the floor are so dirty as if they didn’t wash it for centuries….

The floor is wet and shoe marks are everywhere….

I think the management should look into this matter seriously….

No star will be given for this toilet……

Sunway Hotel in Penang

Sunway Hotel in Penang is my first post on public toilets in commercial buildings.

It’s OKU friendly but there’s no basin for the OKU to do washing after their business as the normal ones are high and I think the one who is sitting on the wheelchair will find difficulties when they wash their hands using the normal basin.

Besides that, the toilet is big enough and I think any of the body size can fit into the toilet. ;)

It’s generally clean and the floor is dry.

I think the main reason that they can maintain this cleanliness is because there are not many people who are using it as the toilet is for the hotel guest only.

Besides that, there are also some plants and art work on the wall to make the toilet looks nicer and the toilet is not smelly.

How will you grade the toilet from my description and photos as shown below??

I give Penang Sunway Hotel’s toilet a 3 star.

There's a hook for you to hang your things... (This is the one in OKU..) But, I think it's too high....

Public toilets in commercial buildings...

Why am I choosing this topic?

No idea…. Just feel like doing…

So, please don’t ask me if possible…. (:

Public toilets…..

We have all kinds of public toilets around the world….

Some with air conditioned, some without door, some have to pay and some need not, some is stink and you don’t even feel like entering it even though you are in the emergency and some is with nice fragrant and you just do not want to go out of the toilet….

There are so many types of toilets and the design in it is also different….

The logo of the toilet they used to hang outside do have many types too….

Do you enter a public toilet?

Some of them cannot do their big business when they travel away from their home…

This blog is created for one of my subject I am taking now….

SAU216E (Globalization, Cyber Culture and Future Studies)

This assignment consists of 30% of my whole subject and I am doing on the topic of “Public Toilets in Commercial Buildings”…

We can actually do it in a group but I choose to do it individually…

The main reason is that I do not know many of them in the class as majority of them are third year students…

The second reason is that I think blogging alone is better….

Isolation is not a word for me as I am blogging and I am connecting everyone in the world…

I am compressing time and space…. ;)
